The Paper

The Western Advocate has been serving the Bathurst area for 150 years. It has established itself as the voice of the local district providing the information that has helped the community develop and prosper. The Advocate is a daily newspaper that produces about 200 pages every week.

The Market

Located in the Macquarie Valley on the Central Tablelands of NSW, Bathurst is Australia’s oldest inland settlement. Booming in the 1850’s and 60’s with the discovery of gold, Bathurst has remained one of Australia’s fastest growing regional centres with a diverse range of industry from Agriculture, Engineering and Education.

Education is the largest single industry in Bathurst, generating an annual turnover in excess of $110 million, with Charles Sturt University and some 16 primary and secondary schools in the region. Also significant to the local economy is the Simplot Vegetable Cannery and Fish Processing Plant and Uncle Bens Pet Food Processing Plant.

Bathurst is known worldwide as the home of two of the World’s greatest car races at Mount Panorama every year.
